Jaipur, December 31, 2018: SpiceXpress today flagged off its first ever SpiceFresh consignment to Hong Kong & Dubai from Guwahati, Assam. Earmarking its foray in to the exports of Mandarins, two flights each consisting of 1000 kilograms of the fruit, took-off from Guwahati to Hong Kong and Dubai.

SpiceFresh caters to the shipment of fruits and vegetables to domestic as well as international markets. The company will service Hong Kong with daily 18 tonne Freighter flights split between Guwahati and Kolkata and both the Hong Kong and Dubai routes will be served using both SpiceXpress and SpiceJet aircraft.

The inauguration of the new (cargo) flights was initiated with the customary lamp lighting ceremony at Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in the august presence of Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary, Hon’ble Minister for Transport, Industry & Commerce, Parliamentary Affairs, Skill Employment & Entrepreneurship Development, Government of Assam, and other distinguished officials.

SpiceFresh sees huge potential for exports of agricultural products from North East India and the company is also planning to start Stevia and Okra (Lady Finger) plantations in the region, primarily for Exports. It aims to initiate exports of over 5 tonnes of Fresh Fruits & Vegetables from the auspicious Bihu. It aims to not only provide a big boost to the farmers of Assam but will also help in elevating the entire economy of the North East Region.

Inspite of its rich biodiversity and favourable climate only less than one percent of North East’s agricultural products are exported owing to lack of proper infrastructural facilities. The new cargo flights bring in huge opportunities for the region to expand their exports to the International Markets.

The Mandarins were grown at SpiceFresh Supervised Orchards in the North East Region and the entire initiative was fully supported by the Government of Assam Industry & Commerce Department, AIIDC, APEDA, AAI & AAICLAS.
