Two young achievers from Rajasthan win ‘YONO SBI 20 Under Twenty’ awards

Jaipur – February 07, 2019: State Bank of India, country’s largest lender celebrated the talent of young superstars who are transforming society with their skills and expertise with ‘YONO SBI 20 Under Twenty’ awards. Two great young talents – 16 years old Hridayeshwar Singh Bhati – Inventor of six, twelve, and sixty player circular chess variants and 14 years old Jasu Khan – Rajasthani folk singer, emerged as winners of this title.

Jasu Khan won ‘YONO SBI 20 Under Twenty’ award under ‘Performing Artiste – Male’ category.  His love for music is evident in his singing as he takes ahead the legacy of folk singing in the modern world. He started learning music at the age of 5 and made his debut appearance in the singing reality show ‘The Voice India Kids’, in the year 2016. Till date, Jasu has performed in various shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil champs, DID Li’l Masters and Music Ki Pathshaala. Due to challenging economic conditions, Jasu took the responsibility of his family on his shoulders and paid household bills by singing at weddings and parties at the age of 13 years.

Hridayeshwar Singh Bhati from Jaipur won the ‘Jury’s Choice’ award at ‘YONO SBI 20 Under Twenty’ Awards. At an age of 9 years, Bhati had invented and patented a six-player variant of chess with some minor assistance from his father who is a Math teacher. Hridayeshwar is a patient of Duchene muscular dystrophy and is wheelchair bound, but nothing can mar this young inventor’s enthusiasm and energy as he takes inspiration from Stephen Hawking. He has also designed and received patents for twelve and sixty-player versions of his game, with his boards capable of 100 distinct variations altogether. Besides inventing the circular chess, Hridayeshwar also has invented a ramp system that enables easy access to vehicles for disabled.

The winners were chosen through public voting that counted to more than 1.7 lakh in 10 diverse categories such as sustainability, performing arts, acting, entrepreneurship or innovation, sports, global Indian, disability champion among others. The nominations were shortlisted by an esteemed  jury panel of 8 eminent personalities including bollywood actress Dia Mirza, Sports journalist and author Boria Majumdar, Sashi Sreedharan, MD, Microsoft India, Dilip Asbe, MD & CEO, NPCI, Mallika Dua, Social Media Influencer, among others.
